Sonoma County Mammals
Backstreet Gallery
I chose to theme my work around mammals that inhabit and pass through Sonoma County. There seem to be 105 mammals total, I've done 39, and my goal over the next year or so is to complete works of all 105. Maybe I'll do a book...
All 35 pieces were made in 2 months. I sold 12 of the 35 pieces, and many of the other artists had a successful month as well. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported me and my fellow artists.
Extra special thanks to Mary Vaughan https://www.maryvaughan.com/ and Nick Mancillas https://www.nickmancillas.com/ for giving so generously of their time, and to the Backstreet Gallery for hosting us newbies for 3 weekends.
The physical show ran 3 weekends, and made the Press Democrat, The Bohemian, Sonoma Magazine, and KRBC.
If anyone is interested in an original, a print, or a commission, please reach out and let me know. Prints are available in many sizes. My partner Kris has taken high quality scans of all the pieces.
The medium is Watercolor & Ink, and the frames were all thrifted & spray painted to match (except for the Garbage Guru), which will be street art put up in Art Alley.

This one got sacrificed to the art gods! Glad my partner scanned everything in high res. It was the very first piece I made for the art show. I didn't love the background, anyhow.

Because the first raccoon disappeared, I redid it, because raccoons are the best animal - and it ended up being the last one I did for the show. Full circle!

This used to be a much taller piece, but he looks a lot better cropped down to this size. Moles live in claustrophobic holes, so it's fitting that it should be stuffed into a frame.
